About the Laser Cut Box Generator

Create custom finger-joint boxes for laser cutting with an interactive 3D preview. Adjust the box dimensions, material thickness, finger joint width and fit settings, then download ready-to-cut SVG or DXF files.

How to Use

  1. Choose millimeters or inches.
  2. Select internal or external dimensions.
  3. Choose an open or closed box.
  4. Enter the width, height and depth of your box.
  5. Set the actual thickness of your material.
  6. Adjust the finger joint width if needed.
  7. Enable press-fit bumps or kerf compensation for a more precise fit.
  8. Check the assembled box and flat layout in the 3D preview.
  9. Download the finished cutting plan as an SVG or DXF file.

Material Thickness

Enter the actual measured thickness of your plywood, MDF, acrylic or other sheet material. The real thickness may differ from the value stated by the manufacturer.

Finger Joint Width

This setting controls the approximate width of the fingers around the edges of each panel. The generator automatically adjusts the joint pattern to fit the selected box dimensions.

Press-Fit Bumps

Press-fit bumps are small rounded protrusions added inside the joints. They create extra friction between the parts and can help the box stay assembled without glue.

Increase or decrease the bump diameter depending on your material, machine accuracy and desired joint tightness.

Kerf Compensation

Kerf is the small amount of material removed by the laser beam during cutting. Kerf compensation adjusts the cutting paths to improve the fit between connected parts.

The correct kerf value depends on your laser machine, material, cutting settings and focus.

SVG and DXF Export

SVG files are suitable for most laser cutting and vector design software. DXF files can be used with compatible CAD, CAM and laser cutting applications.

Before Cutting

Always measure your material and make a small test cut before cutting the complete box. Slight differences in material thickness, kerf and machine calibration can affect the final joint fit.
