SVG nesting, packing and layout optimization software for laser cutting. Automatically detect complete parts, pack irregular shapes into compact material-sheet layouts, place smaller parts inside true holes, preserve Cut, Score and Engrave operations, work around material defects, create carrier frames with holding tabs, and export production-ready SVG files.

Measurement Units
Upload an SVG to detect color layers.
Manual adjustment after nesting: click a part to select it, drag it to any free area or another sheet, and use the mouse wheel to rotate it by 10°. Hold Ctrl for 45° steps. While dragging, collisions turn red; on release, the part snaps to the nearest allowed position. Selection fades after a short pause.
Upload an SVG file to start automatic nesting.
Your optimized sheet layouts will appear here after nesting.
Vector Painter Application
Vector Painter Nest Beta
This professional nesting application detects physical parts in an SVG, groups every part with its holes and artwork, and arranges the parts efficiently across one or multiple material sheets. It can also create framed carrier boards and add holding tabs that keep cut parts fixed to the board.
Your files are not stored. SVG files are processed on the server only to generate the requested layout and are not retained after processing.
Quick Start
1
Import the SVG
Click the upload area or drag in an SVG. The application detects parts and their color layers.
2
Select a nesting mode
Choose Swift, Normal or Deep according to the required balance between speed and compactness.
3
Set the material sheet
Enter sheet width and height, Part Spacing and Sheet Margin. Enable Multiple Sheet Sizes when your stock sheets differ.
4
Verify color operations
Check every detected color and assign Cut, Score, Engrave or Ignore before nesting.
5
Add optional production features
Enable Add frame for a carrier board and Add tabs when parts must remain fixed to that board during cutting.
6
Mark unusable material when needed
Draw no-placement zones for irregular sheet edges, clamps or defects such as knots. Draw an available area to restore a usable region.
Review every generated sheet, make optional manual adjustments, then download one sheet or all SVG sheets.
Optimization Modes
SSwift
Fastest mode for quick production layouts and mostly straightforward shapes.
NNormal
Checks additional rotations and compact placement options while keeping processing practical.
DDeep
Compares several complete layout strategies, extra angles, hole use and puzzle-like placement for difficult curved or wedge-shaped parts.
What the Main Tools Are For
Edit Original File
Select, move, rotate or delete source parts before nesting. Deleted parts are excluded from the next layout.
Grid
Shows a measured grid and rulers over the sheets so positions and remaining space are easier to check.
No-placement and available areas
Reserve defects, clamps or missing sheet areas, then restore any usable region with the matching available-area tool.
Add frame
Creates a compact outer carrier board around the nested layout. The frame is fitted to the occupied design whenever possible.
Add tabs
Adds small holding bridges between parts and the frame so loose pieces remain fixed to the carrier board.
Move, rotate and AutoSnap
Drag a part to a legal position; AutoSnap finds the nearest valid fit. Use the mouse wheel to rotate and hold Ctrl for larger angle steps.
Button Guide
These are the same controls shown in the application.
Undo
Reverses the last manual sheet action.
Delete
Deletes the selected part or selected line.
Grid
Shows or hides the sheet grid and rulers.
Rectangle: no-placement
Draws a rectangular unusable zone.
Circle: no-placement
Draws a circular unusable zone.
Freeform: no-placement
Draws an irregular unusable zone around a defect or complex sheet edge.
Rectangle: available
Restores a rectangular region inside a no-placement area.
Circle: available
Restores a circular usable region.
Freeform: available
Restores an irregular usable region.
Clear all no-placement areas
Removes every drawn no-placement zone from all sheets.
Add frame
Adds a compact carrier-board outline around the nested layout.
Add tabs
Adds holding bridges that connect parts to the carrier board.
Zoom in
Enlarges the current sheet preview.
Zoom out
Reduces the current sheet preview.
Original scale (1:1)
Shows the sheet at its true screen scale.
Scrolls directly to the top of the sheet list.
Download SVG
Downloads only the selected sheet.
Edit Original File
Opens the imported layout for manual editing before nesting.
Refresh
Reloads the application, equivalent to pressing F5.
Add Another Sheet Size
Adds a different stock-sheet size when Multiple Sheet Sizes is enabled.
Nest Parts
Starts a new nesting run from the current imported or edited source.
Download All Sheets
Downloads every completed SVG sheet.
Practical Example
A furniture file can contain large panels, small connectors, inner cutouts, score lines and engraving. The application keeps each drawing attached to its correct part, places larger parts first, prioritizes true cutout holes for suitable smaller parts and exports separate production-ready SVG sheets. If the material contains a knot, draw a no-placement area over it before nesting.
Beta notice: Always inspect every generated sheet, verify dimensions, and confirm Cut, Score and Engrave operations before starting the laser.
Vector Painter Nest subscription
